to encapsulate what gaming sub-culture is and to even explain it, is very hard, you have to live it.
We’re here to celebrate the unpredictable, the moments you can’t plan for. We have no idea what the next iconic moment will be or how it will weave itself into Gen Alpha’s narrative or future gens. And that’s the beauty of it.Sometimes, you need to throw out the playbook, abandon the rules, and create a space where people can truly be themselves and have fun. Do that and just watch the chain reaction unfold!

If you don’t know who Leroy Jenkins is, or at the very least what he and his comrades represent, you might be missing the essence of gaming culture and subculture.

The video, uploaded in 2005, features a group of players in World of Warcraft (WoW) meticulously planning a difficult raid strategy. Just as they’re finalizing their tactics, one player, Leroy Jenkins (whose real name is Ben Schulz), suddenly shouts his own name, charges into battle recklessly, and disrupts the group’s careful planning. His impulsive move leads to the entire team’s defeat in a chaotic mess, with the other players reacting in shock and frustration.
The video spread rapidly online, and Leroy Jenkins became a meme representing impulsiveness and disregard for strategy. The phrase "Leroy Jenkins!" is now widely used to humorously describe someone diving headfirst into a situation without thinking. Since then, Leroy Jenkins has been referenced in other games, TV shows, movies, and even became an Easter egg in World of Warcraft, cementing his place as a legend in internet and gaming culture.
